The Art of Fugue Violoncello da Spalla
The pioneering Badiarov da spalla model
One of the earliest modern violoncellos da spalla to return to the international stage.
A reference instrument for leading da spalla players today.
Developed through more than two decades of making, playing, and refinement.

The Dies Irae Violoncello da Spalla
A darker da spalla model shaped from the Dies Irae chant
A darker and more powerful counterpart within Badiarov’s da spalla models.
Designed for presence, clarity of articulation, and harmonic depth.
Compact against the body, yet capable of carrying demanding solo and ensemble repertoire.
Playing characteristics
Both models are fully customisable.
The Art of Fugue
Slightly narrower body. Open, warm, velvety barytone character, with clear projection and fast articulation. Developed since 2004 through a series of subtle model variations.
The Dies Irae
Slightly wider body of the same length. Counterintuitively, it feels smaller in the player’s hands. Darker, more grounded response, with increased density at the core.
The Dissonances violoncello da spalla exists. However, these two models have proven the most popular with professional players today.
