Profile
Dmitry Badiarov is a luthier and former performer based in The Hague, specialising in historically informed instruments of the violin family. He is known for the revival and development of the violoncello da spalla (since 2003) and for Sound Alchemy, a historically informed design approach that begins with musical harmony and proportion to shape an instrument’s geometry and playing response. He builds custom violins, violas, and violoncellos da spalla for professional musicians worldwide.
