Profile
Dmitry Badiarov is a Netherlands-based violin maker, performer, and author specialising in historically informed instruments of the violin family. He is known for his pioneering role in the modern return of the violoncello da spalla and for a harmony-first design method in which musical relationships are resolved as proportion before becoming the measurements, response, and voice of the instrument. At Badiarov Violins in The Hague, he creates custom violins, violas, and violoncellos da spalla for musicians seeking instruments shaped around music, body, and sound.
