“Baroque violins” are used to perform repertoire from the early 16th century to the late 18th, according to the Historically Informed Practice (HIP), for which reason a player should ideally own a series of baroque violins: one for early Italian baroque, one for German baroque before Bach, one for the style of the late 17th – early 18th century.
